Description: Tejas is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The film stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, alongside Anshul Chauhan and Varun Mitra in supporting roles.

Review: Kangana Ranaut takes the lead in Sarvesh Mewara's "Tejas," a film that falls short of expectations, lacking both logical coherence and emotional depth. Positioned as a patriotic narrative promoting trust in female officers in combat, the film, produced by the makers of "Uri: The Surgical Strike," fails to deliver on both action and emotional fronts.  Wing Commander Tejas Gill (played by Kangana Ranaut) embarks on a mission to rescue an Indian spy from extremist Islamists, introducing a weak antagonist portrayal in the form of cardboards in Pakistan and Afghanistan. 

The film struggles to present a credible threat to Kangana's character, with the only update being a target on the upcoming Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The film's attempt to evoke nationalist sentiments feels more like a hastily assembled advertisement for 'new India' than an inspirational cinematic experience.  Kangana's performance, though delivered with conviction, is deemed uneven, with a focus on her aviators and swagger on the tarmac rather than delivering compelling aerial action. The narrative relies heavily on Kangana's character, Tejas, to the point where even the mission to rescue the Indian spy is labeled "Operation Tejas." Despite attempts to inject interest through flashbacks, the plot remains thin and uninspiring.  

Veteran actors Ashutosh Vidyarthi and Suneet Tandon attempt to bring seriousness to the mission but are hindered by the lackluster storyline. Kangana's one-liners on a soldier's service and women's empowerment feel more like television interview bullet points than integral parts of a seamless narrative. 

Exceptions include Varun Mitra as Tejas's romantic interest and Anshul Chauhan as her co-pilot, who inject moments of fun into the limited screen time, contrasting Kangana's performance that seems weighed down. "Tejas" struggles to rise above its shortcomings, making it less engaging for audiences seeking both thrilling action and emotional resonance.
